President Osmani commemorated the anniversary of the Dubrava prison massacre, emphasizing that Dubrava remains an open wound in our collective memory and an indelible testament to the brutality of the genocidal Serbian state against the Albanians of Kosovo.
“Today we remember with sorrow the Dubrava prison massacre, one of the most horrific massacres committed by the genocidal regime of Serbia during the war in Kosovo.
In May 1999, within the walls of Dubrava prison, a macabre crime occurred: for five consecutive days, the genocidal Serbian regime brutally killed 120 Albanian prisoners of war and political detainees and wounded 300 others.
They were killed simply because they fought for the right to live freely on their own land. Instead of being protected, they became targets of a systematic crime, a crime that even 26 years later demands justice.
Dubrava remains an open wound in our collective memory and an indelible testimony of the brutality of the genocidal Serbian state against the Albanians of Kosovo.
Eternal honor to the fallen of Dubrava!
Justice for the victims and permanent historical remembrance!” wrote President Osmani on Facebook.
