Prishtina, August 1, 2025 — President of the Republic of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, praised the vital role of the diaspora in promoting and advancing Kosovo, calling it the country’s “best ambassador” during a welcoming ceremony held in Prishtina for the diaspora community.
In her heartfelt address, President Osmani expressed deep gratitude for the unwavering support and contributions that the diaspora has made to Kosovo’s development, both economically and diplomatically.
“From Switzerland to Germany, to the United States and Canada, from universities in those countries to entrepreneurs in Canada and Austria, and in the field of technology in Scandinavia — you have been the backbone of development in your host countries,” Osmani said. “Albanians are now present across the globe, not only physically but politically as well — serving as members of parliament, mayors, professors, artists, engineers, accomplished athletes, and world-renowned musicians.”
She emphasized that this global presence is “a page of pride for our entire nation,” adding:
“Wherever you go, you honor Kosovo. And wherever you go, you carry Kosovo with you. You have represented our country better than any word or slogan ever could. That’s why we always say that you are Kosovo’s best ambassadors — and I say that with all due respect to our formal ambassadors who proudly represent us with dignity around the world.”
During the Day of the Diaspora celebration in the capital, President Osmani also expressed profound sorrow over the recent tragic death of 33-year-old Rrahim Latifi, a member of the diaspora who lost his life in an accident at Ujman Lake.
