On the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, President Vjosa Osmani decided to award the Presidential Medal of Merit to a group of activists who, through their tireless efforts, have made outstanding contributions to the empowerment, protection of rights, and dignified inclusion of persons with disabilities in our society.

According to the presidential office, this year’s honorees are: Halit Ferizi (posthumously), Agim Vatovci (posthumously), Sabrije Zeqa (posthumously), Merita Voca (posthumously), Mexhid Foniqi (posthumously), and Hiljminijeta Apuk.

The announcement states that these activists, through public advocacy, fieldwork, and continuous protection of the rights of persons with disabilities, have significantly contributed to raising social awareness, advancing public policies, and promoting inclusivity.

“Their contribution is an example of civic dedication and values, which President Osmani continuously affirms,” the statement reads.

The medals will be presented at a special ceremony at the end of December 2025.

President Osmani emphasized that our society becomes fairer and stronger through those who work every day for equality, dignity, and inclusion, and that recognizing their contributions is both an institutional and moral obligation.
