President Osmani: Implementing the Constitutional Court’s Ruling Is an Obligation

The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, emphasized the importance of constituting the Assembly within the 30-day deadline, referring to the ruling of the Constitutional Court, reports Rks News.

Today, she held consultative meetings with leaders of non-majority community political parties as well as the Guxo and Alternativa parties. According to the Presidency’s statement, Osmani reiterated that “the implementation of the Constitutional Court’s ruling is a constitutional obligation, and this ruling clarified that constituting the Assembly within 30 days is a duty, not an option.”

The President called on the leaders to “in the spirit of cooperation and mutual trust, and for the benefit of citizens and the state interest, to find a way to constitute the Assembly as soon as possible, but within the deadline set by the Constitutional Court.”

Osmani stressed that the absence of the legislature “is creating an institutional vacuum that is causing erosion of democracy and damaging the functioning of the state.”

“In her role as guarantor of constitutional functioning and representative of the unity of the people in the Republic of Kosovo, President Osmani will continue consultative meetings with other parties represented in parliament in the coming days.”
