Pristina, July 16, 2025 — President of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani has revealed that she received specific intelligence at the end of May indicating that Serbia was preparing for a potential escalation near the border with Kosovo.
Her statement comes after former U.S. President Donald Trump claimed multiple times in recent weeks that he personally prevented a war between Kosovo and Serbia.
Speaking to the media, Osmani confirmed that upon receiving the intelligence, she acted swiftly, holding security briefings and immediately informing Kosovo’s international allies.
“More specifically, at the end of May we received new, concrete information regarding Serbia’s actions near the Kosovo border. I immediately held meetings with the security institutions that report to me as president. These details were then shared without delay with our security allies, requesting their support to prevent the escalation Serbia was planning,” Osmani stated.
Despite the concerning nature of the intelligence, President Osmani reassured the public that the situation is under control:
“I assure citizens that there is no reason for concern or panic. Threats from Serbia are constant, but our institutions, in close coordination with allies, have everything under control.”
The remarks underline the fragile security dynamics in the region, as Kosovo continues to face hybrid threats and military posturing from Serbia.
