President Osmani Meets Outgoing and Incoming U.S. KFOR East Commanders

The President of the Republic of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, received today in a meeting the outgoing commander of the U.S. KFOR Regional Command-East (KFOR 34), Colonel Peter Helzer from the Oregon National Guard, and the incoming commander of the same command (KFOR 35), Colonel Jonathan Lloyd from the Louisiana National Guard.

President Osmani thanked Colonel Helzer for his service and dedication during his mandate in Kosovo, praising his contribution to strengthening security and stability in the country and across the region. On this occasion, she awarded him a Presidential Medal of Appreciation as a sign of respect and gratitude for his valuable commitment.

During the meeting, the President welcomed Colonel Lloyd, assuring him of the full support of Kosovo’s institutions in fulfilling his mandate and the mission of NATO-led KFOR.

President Osmani expressed deepest gratitude on behalf of the people of Kosovo for over 26 years of U.S. military presence in the country as part of the KFOR mission—a presence that has been vital to peace, security, and stability in Kosovo and the broader region. She highly commended the ongoing commitment of American soldiers in defending democratic values and collective security.
