On the anniversary of the death of National Hero Sali Çekaj, President of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani paid tribute to his legacy, honoring his pivotal role in the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) and the Battle of Koshare.
In a public statement, President Osmani described Çekaj as one of the most remarkable KLA commanders, known for his bravery, unwavering loyalty, generosity, and unconditional love for his homeland.
“Sali Çekaj was one of the most distinguished commanders of the Kosovo Liberation Army, recognized for his courage, loyalty, generosity, and unconditional love for the homeland. Alongside Agim Ramadani and other fellow fighters, he stood out as a determined strategist and courageous leader on the front lines,” she said.
The hero was remembered today during a memorial academy held under the patronage of President Osmani, highlighting his enduring role in Kosovo’s path to freedom.
“We will forever be proud of the fallen heroes and the brave warriors who wrote our history with their blood. Eternal glory to the legacy of Hero Sali Çekaj,” Osmani concluded.
