Kosovo’s President Vjosa Osmani reacted after the Constitutional Court’s temporary measure regarding the work of the Assembly, stating that her office has already submitted its official comments.

She warned that there are attempts to block the state over the election of a single deputy speaker, something she described as a direct threat to the constitutional order and democratic foundations of the Republic.

Osmani stressed that the effective functioning of state institutions is essential for preserving constitutional order.

“Blocking the constitution of the Assembly because of the non-election of a deputy speaker would seriously undermine the very foundations on which the Republic is built,” she said.

The President emphasized that the Assembly has sufficient quorum to operate, since deputies have already taken their oath and the presidency of the Assembly is functional.

“In circumstances where the constitution of the Assembly is blocked for one single deputy speaker, despite the fact that the Presidency has a quorum and the Speaker is in place, this prevents the legitimate representation of citizens in the highest representative institution and hinders the exercise of sovereignty,” Osmani added.
