President Vjosa Osmani has summoned the leaders of political parties to a meeting on Friday at noon, as Kosovo continues its efforts to form a new government nearly nine months after the elections.

The meeting will take place in Hall C301 of the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo, the same hall where the Assembly’s presidency holds its sessions.

Osmani invited the party leaders for consultative discussions after her first appointee, Albin Kurti of the winning party Vetëvendosje, failed to secure enough votes in the Assembly on Sunday to form the new government.

Under the Constitution, Osmani must appoint a new mandate holder within 10 days of the failure of the first appointee.

Media representatives will be allowed to capture footage at the beginning of the meeting.
