The President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani-Sadriu, accompanied by her husband Prindon, will be in Croatia today (Sunday) at the invitation of her Croatian counterpart, Zoran Milanović.
The presidential couple will attend the 309th annual horse race held in the Croatian city of Sinj, a tradition that takes place every first Sunday of August since 1715.
“President of Kosovo Vjosa Osmani is attending the Sinj Alka at the invitation of President Milanović, who, as in previous years, is also its sponsor. Her visit to Sinj was previously agreed with the leadership of the Knights of Alka Society, which in recent years has been working to internationalize this traditional equestrian event in Sinj and promote it beyond the borders of Croatia,” reads a press release from the Croatian President’s Office, reports Klankosova.tv.
“Milanović, as a sponsor of the Sinj Alka, supports this effort by the Knights of Alka Society, and last year he invited the then-President of Hungary, Katalin Novák, to the Sinj Alka. The year before, the guest was the then-President of Slovenia, Borut Pahor, the first foreign statesman to attend the Sinj Alka,” the press release states.
During their stay in Sinj, Milanović and Osmani will visit the exhibition “Vanja Radauš and Stipe Sikirica – Dialogue Between Teacher and Student.” On this occasion, they will also visit the Alka Museum.
