NATO Deputy Secretary General Radmilla Shekerinska, in an interview with Beta News Agency, stated that NATO is awaiting those responsible for the Banjskë attack to be brought to justice. She emphasized that this accountability is crucial to prevent similar incidents from happening in the future, according to Express.

Shekerinska said that guarantees have been received from Belgrade that the perpetrators will be held accountable:

“We received very clear assurances or commitments from the authorities in Belgrade that responsibility will be determined, and this will be our position going forward,” she said.

Meanwhile, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, speaking at a conference in Brussels this week, stated that he still expects accountability for events in Kosovo, noting that the Serbian president had promised to fulfill this commitment and that Rutte expects it to happen soon.

Commenting on Rutte’s statement, Shekerinska highlighted that it demonstrates NATO’s expectation that Serbian authorities deliver concrete results.

When asked whether this implied that no results had been achieved so far, Shekerinska replied that this is exactly why Rutte was calling once again for accountability.
