After numerous complaints from citizens about the price increase of coffee in Vushtrri, the Competition Inspectorate has started inspections in cafes to verify whether this increase is reasonable or coordinated.

Business owners claim that the price increases are coming from the importers, while the inspectorate is in the phase of collecting data and documentation to investigate this matter further.

The gastronomy sector is already under observation due to suspicions of coordinated price hikes for coffee.

Some cafe owners justify the price increase with the cost of imports, as they say that the prices were previously raised by international suppliers.

On the other hand, some cafes have not raised the price of coffee for more than two years, but these recent increases are forcing Visar Berisha to withdraw from the hospitality business.

Citizens say that the state should intervene in these price increases while wages remain the same.

Arta Fejzullahu, an investigative inspector at the Competition Inspectorate, said in an interview with RTV21 that after discussions with business owners and gathering their documentation, they are currently in the phase of collecting data to see if there are possible agreements for the price increase.

The investigations by the Competition Inspectorate will continue in the coming days, while citizens hope that market control will bring price stabilization, at least for a relaxing cup of coffee, as we are used to.
