The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, is currently in the United States, invited both as Prime Minister and as the leader of the Vetëvendosje Movement. He will participate in the Democratic National Convention, which starts today and will be held in Chicago.
In an interview with Voice of America, the head of the government stated that Kosovo’s relations with the USA are strong, even though he does not make frequent visits there.
“I don’t believe there’s any damage. It’s true that I don’t resemble other Prime Ministers of the Republic of Kosovo, but I believe that the relationships we are building with the United States are stronger than ever,” Kurti said.
Kurti also expressed that Kosovo considers the USA a partner.
“We see the United States of America as a partner,” the Prime Minister said.
Regarding the upcoming elections in America, he had a few words about the presidential candidate, Donald Trump.
“The Republican side of the United States has an unusual candidate. We’re talking about former President Trump, who has had his main criticism of NATO, suggesting that member states should meet the 2% quota for defense spending. In this regard, I believe that Kosovo is on the bright side, as we have reached the 2% of GDP quota, having doubled our defense spending, tripled our spending on armaments, and quadrupled the number of overseas training for our KSF soldiers,” said the head of the executive.
