Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have openly expressed their support for the Southern California community. The rapidly spreading fires in Los Angeles have consumed everything in their path, with 10 reported fatalities so far.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have opened the doors of their residence to friends who have been forced to evacuate due to the danger. The couple lives about 90 miles north of the Los Angeles area.
In addition to helping their loved ones, they are also working with their Archewell Foundation to determine the most impactful ways to support the community during this crisis.
The foundation is also seeking volunteer opportunities to assist in mental health recovery for those in immediate need of help and will facilitate long-term recovery efforts.
Harry and Meghan have also donated food and clothing to the affected families.
The two largest fires ever to affect Los Angeles in the United States have caused 10 deaths and destroyed at least 10,000 homes, buildings, and other structures.
The flames have also engulfed the western area of Los Angeles, marking some of the largest fires ever recorded there. The death toll from the fires has risen from 7 to 10. In a press conference, Los Angeles County Sheriff Robert Luna warned that the toll is expected to increase.
“It looks like an atomic bomb has dropped in these areas. We don’t expect good news and we’re not looking forward to those numbers,” he said.
During a meeting with members of his cabinet at the White House, President Joe Biden stated that he had put federal resources on alert and approved additional funds to help California fight the destructive fires, describing them as “the worst fires ever to hit Los Angeles,” according to TAR, as reported by TopChannel.
The new funds will cover 100% of the costs for 180 days for hazardous material removal, temporary housing, salaries for rapid intervention personnel, and measures to protect the lives of residents affected by the fires. “We will not back down from these plans.”
We expect a temporary interruption in the strong winds, but in some areas, strong winds are likely to continue into next week.
