Prince Harry, the younger son of King Charles III, has lost his legal battle against the UK government over changes to his police protection. The dispute began after Harry stepped down from his royal duties in 2020 alongside his wife, Meghan Markle, and moved to the United States.

In February 2020, the UK Home Office decided that Harry would no longer automatically receive personal police protection while in the UK. His legal team argued that the decision was unfair, claiming that Harry and Meghan had been subject to increasing threats, including from terrorist organizations like Al-Qaeda.

However, the London court ruled that the Home Office’s decision was lawful. An appeal by Harry’s legal team was rejected by three appellate judges, who affirmed that, while they sympathized with the prince’s concerns, the decision did not represent a legal error.

Harry, 40, has made it clear that he feels his security is at risk, citing an incident in 2023 where he and Meghan were pursued by paparazzi in a “dangerous car chase” in New York City. Despite the ruling, Harry’s legal team insists that his safety remains a pressing concern, and they vowed to continue seeking enhanced protection for the couple.

This legal setback comes as Harry and Meghan continue to adjust to their life in California with their two children, and it marks a continued tension between the royal family and the British government over the prince’s role and his security arrangements.
