The Basic Court in Prishtina has ordered 30 days of pre-trial detention for Hashim Rexhepi, owner and instructor at the shooting range “Fazani-S”, where a 24-year-old woman died on August 29, 2025.
According to the State Prosecutor, there is reasonable suspicion that Rexhepi failed to act according to safety regulations, thereby creating serious risk to human life. He is charged with “Causing General Danger”.
The court decision states that Rexhepi allegedly allowed the victim, L.S., and witness A.R., to enter the shooting area with firearms and ammunition without his supervision. During handling of the weapon, L.S. accidentally shot herself in the abdomen, later dying at 21:05 at the University Clinical Center of Kosovo (QKUK).
The ruling, obtained by KALLXO.com, highlights that the suspicion is supported by witness testimonies, photographic evidence, and other materials. The court further noted that if released, Rexhepi could potentially flee to avoid criminal responsibility.
Rexhepi’s defense, led by lawyer Besiana Ismaili, strongly opposed the detention decision, arguing that there is no risk of flight or obstruction of evidence.
“There is no grounded suspicion that my client would hide. On the contrary, after providing first aid, he immediately contacted the police. He has contributed to securing and collecting evidence,” Ismaili said.
Rexhepi himself only stated in court: “I have nothing to add.”
The pre-trial detention measure will remain in effect until September 30, 2025.
KALLXO.com had earlier reported on the fatal shooting incident at the “Fazani-S” range on August 29, 2025, which claimed the life of the young woman.
