The Municipality of Prishtina has announced that it has reached an agreement with the Strike Council of the “Pastrimi” enterprise to end the workers’ strike.

“We inform you that an agreement has been reached between the Municipality of Prishtina and the Strike Council of the ‘Pastrimi’ enterprise for the cessation of the workers’ strike in front of the Municipality building,” stated a press release.

On May 22, 2025, workers of the Regional Waste Company “Pastrimi” gathered in front of the Prishtina Municipality building, initiating a strike with demands for better working conditions and higher wages.

The Municipality had considered the workers’ gathering in front of the municipal building unnecessary. “For some time now, the Capital has been engaged in resolving the situation created with waste. Therefore, while the Capital is doing everything to overcome this situation, we consider the gathering of ‘Pastrimi’ workers in front of the Municipality building unnecessary,” stated the Municipality’s communiqué.

The workers’ dissatisfaction began with the municipality’s decision to announce a tender worth over 15 million euros for engaging private companies in the capital’s maintenance. According to the workers, “Pastrimi” lacks the means and capacity to meet the municipality’s demands.

The Municipality has announced that they will hold a joint press conference to declare the details of the reached agreement.
