The employees of the “Pastrimi” sanitation company have continued their strike today (Saturday) in front of the Municipality of Prishtina.

Photos published by Reporteri.net show workers eating under difficult conditions in a tent set up directly across from the municipal building.

Background:

The strike has been ongoing due to unresolved demands from the workers. On Friday, the “Punëtori” Union of the Regional Maintenance Company “Pastrimi” stated that the Municipality of Prishtina offered no concrete solutions during a meeting held that day.

Meanwhile, the municipality claimed it had met one of the key demands: the contract for managing surface-level waste, valued at €1.5 million, has already been signed. However, the union said this does not represent a real solution to their broader issues.

Escalation:

Today, Prishtina’s Mayor Përparim Rama accused the company of blocking more than 30 trucks, further aggravating the city’s waste management crisis.
