Prosecution Denies Lirim Mehmetaj’s Claim -“GPS Case Investigation Is Being Harmed”

The Basic Prosecution of Pristina has refuted journalist Lirim Mehmetaj regarding a device found in the car of journalist Vehbi Kajtazi.

In a public statement, the Prosecution stated that it has not confirmed any news related to this incident.

“The Basic Prosecution in Pristina, with the aim of clarifying the public, announces that it refutes the statements of journalist Lirim Mehmetaj that the prosecution has confirmed any news regarding the placement of GPS devices in the car of journalist V.K.,” the Prosecution’s statement reads.

It further states that such statements are harming justice.

“Such statements are in no one’s interest, least of all in the interest of justice. For any communication and news from the prosecution, the public will be informed, as has happened in the past, through official channels. The state prosecutor will continue fighting criminal offenses and their perpetrators, and for this, the public will be kept informed. Such statements may harm the integrity of investigations and do not serve the clarification and investigation of criminal acts,” the Prosecution said in its response.

In the statement that was refuted by the prosecution, which journalist Mehmetaj had posted on his Facebook profile, he claimed that “The Prosecution has confirmed that the surveillance device found in journalist Vehbi Kajtazi’s car belongs to the AKI (Kosovo Intelligence Agency).”
