The Basic Prosecutor’s Office in Mitrovicë has requested that the Basic Court of Mitrovicë impose one-month pretrial detention for a police officer of the Special Operations Unit, identified by the initials M.L.
The request follows allegations that M.L. committed multiple criminal offenses, including:
- Abuse of official position or authority
- Disclosure of official secrets
- Unauthorized possession or control of weapons
- Use of a weapon or dangerous instrument
According to the prosecutor’s statement, on 2 September 2025, in the village of Ropicë, Vushtrri, M.L. allegedly exploited his official authority for personal gain, visiting the residence of K.M. and removing property to Prishtina.
Additionally, on 18 June 2025, M.L. is accused of informing K.M. about a police investigation, following the observation of a drone over K.M.’s property, potentially compromising official inquiries.
The police officer is also suspected of storing ammunition at his residence in Vushtrri and firing his weapon inside a nightclub, reportedly shooting seven to eight times on one occasion and three times on another, as captured on social media.
During a recent search of M.L.’s home and vehicle, authorities seized two mobile phones and ammunition.
The court will hold a hearing to decide on the pretrial detention of the officer.
