On Monday, May 19, 2025, the Kosovo Police received a report about a newborn baby found inside a black plastic bag near a garbage dump on “Qëndresa” street in Prishtina.
The Prishtina Prosecutor’s Office confirmed to KALLXO.com that they have been notified of the case and are actively conducting all necessary investigative actions.
“The duty prosecutor has been informed about the case and is taking all measures and investigative steps regarding the matter. We will provide further updates,” the Prosecutor’s Office stated on May 19, 2025.
According to the Kosovo Police, around 11:00 AM on May 19, 2025, they received information about the abandoned baby near the garbage site. Emergency medical teams confirmed that the newborn showed no signs of life.
“At approximately 11:00 today, the police received information about a suspected abandoned baby near the waste depot on Qëndresa street in Prishtina. The lifeless body of the infant has been sent to the Institute of Forensic Medicine. The police, in coordination with the state prosecutor, are treating the case with the utmost seriousness and have initiated an investigation into the death,” the Kosovo Police said in a statement to KALLXO.com.
