Organizations originating from the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) will stage a protest today at 1:00 PM in front of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe in Strasbourg, demanding justice for the former KLA leaders currently being tried in The Hague.
Hysni Gucati, the head of the KLA War Veterans Organization (OVL-UÇK), stated that the protest aims to remind European institutions that they established an ethnically-based court on the basis of false claims made by former Swiss senator Dick Marty.
Gucati expressed expectations of strong support from the Albanian diaspora. He added that the organizers plan to send individual letters to all members of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, highlighting what they consider to be the injustice of the Specialist Chambers towards former KLA leaders, who have been detained for five years under accusations of “war crimes.”
“We have documented all the objections and violations so that each member can read and understand the kind of court they are funding,” Gucati said.
Previous protests have been held in Prishtina, The Hague, and Tirana. Asked about possible protests in Skopje, Gucati said that such an action is not planned due to the current political situation in North Macedonia. He also emphasized that there will be no protests organized in the Presheva Valley at this time.
Meanwhile, Gucati described the testimony of former U.S. General Wesley Clark in the Special Court as a “bombshell” that could significantly impact the ongoing trial.
