At approximately 6:20 PM today, a Land Rover vehicle with Serbian license plates, suspected to belong to the Serbian Gendarmerie, was spotted near the Serbian side of the Merdare border police station. According to reliable information, four members of the Serbian Gendarmerie were seen near the entrance of the Serbian facility, staying for around ten minutes.
The officers crossed the border demarcation line, which constitutes a violation of the Integrated Border Management (IBM) agreement and appears intended to provoke or create an interstate incident.
Kosovo Police is urging relevant international authorities to take necessary actions to maintain stability and ensure mutual respect for agreements related to integrated border management and security. The police reaffirm their commitment to fulfilling their legal duties to maintain calm, stability, and professional management of the state borders in line with their constitutional mandate, while adhering to international agreements. They also pledged to safeguard sovereignty and respond professionally to any illegal actions that threaten constitutional order or border management agreements.
