A night of celebration for Liverpool fans turned into tragedy on Monday evening when a car drove into a crowd in the city center, injuring nearly 50 people, including four children.
The incident occurred on Water Street, near the iconic Royal Liver Building, shortly after the roads had reopened following the Premier League victory parade.
A 53-year-old British man was arrested at the scene, and authorities have confirmed that the incident is not being treated as a terrorist act.
Footage shared on social media shows the moment the vehicle strikes the crowd and then speeds forward, running over several bystanders. In another video, police are seen surrounding the vehicle and shielding the driver from the angry crowd.
