Russian President Vladimir Putin held a press conference alongside his Belarusian counterpart, Alexander Lukashenko.

During the conference, Putin was asked about the United States’ proposal for a ceasefire with Ukraine, as reported by SkyNews.

He began by thanking President Donald Trump.

Putin stated that there have been “many questions regarding the ceasefire” and added that he should first speak with Trump.

He further said, “We agree with the proposals for a ceasefire, but our position is based on the assumption that the ceasefire would lead to long-term peace, something that would address the initial reasons for the crisis.”

Putin then referred to his visit to the Kursk region yesterday, describing the situation there as “completely under Russia’s control.”

Under these circumstances, he stated, “It would be good for Ukraine to reach a 30-day ceasefire.”

He also mentioned that Russian forces are now on the offensive in all areas of the front.
