Russian President Vladimir Putin has offered Russia’s mediation to help resolve the escalating conflict between Israel and Iran, emphasizing that Moscow could help broker a deal allowing Iran to develop a peaceful nuclear program without threatening Israel’s security, Rks News reports.

Speaking at a meeting with heads of international news agencies, Putin described the situation as “delicate”, but said:

“A solution can be found.”

He noted that Russia has shared its proposals with all key parties involved: Iran, Israel, and the United States.

When asked about a hypothetical scenario in which Israel might attempt to eliminate Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Putin declined to answer, saying:

Russia has maintained a balanced stance in the Middle East, strengthening ties with Iran while preserving stable relations with Israel—a position that could make Moscow a potential mediator in the growing crisis.

“I don’t even want to discuss such a possibility.”

Meanwhile, Khamenei has warned that any U.S. military involvement in the conflict would cause “irreparable damage.”

Putin clarified that Iran has not requested Russian military aid, and their strategic cooperation agreement signed in January does not include any military obligations.

He also mentioned that Russia had previously offered to help Iran build an integrated air defense system, but said Tehran showed little interest.

These statements come after a phone call between Putin and U.S. President Donald Trump, during which Trump reportedly told Putin to focus on resolving the war in Ukraine before turning to the Middle East:

“You can worry about the Middle East later,” Trump was quoted as saying.
