Russia will not declare a ceasefire in Ukraine until Kiev takes steps that are “irreversible” and acceptable to Moscow, Vladimir Putin said.
The Russian president also stated that it was futile for Russia to try to appeal to the Ukrainian parliament when it came to Moscow’s ideas to end the conflict between the two countries, skynews reports.
He said last month that Russia would end the war in Ukraine only if Kiev agreed to give up NATO membership and hand over the entirety of the four provinces already occupied by Moscow, demands that Kiev quickly rejected.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenky has stated several times that surrendering to Putin’s troops is not an option.
The Ukrainian leader has asserted that peace will be achieved only if the Russian troops are completely removed from the occupied territories.
Russia started the invasion of the Ukrainian state on February 24, 2022, causing thousands of casualties and extensive material damage.
