Russian President Vladimir Putin has for the first time directly responded to the new U.S. sanctions announced yesterday.
He described the sanctions as an “unfriendly act” that does not help improve relations between the two countries, emphasizing that “dialogue is always better than war”, according to Russian state media TASS.
Putin stated that the sanctions will not affect the Russian economy, a position disputed by most international analysts. He added that Russia will never submit to external pressure.
The statement was also reported by Sky News, highlighting the Kremlin’s determination not to yield to sanctions.
