The Quint Embassy in Pristina recently hosted a ceremony celebrating the 33rd anniversary of Ukraine’s Independence. Held at the National Library of Kosovo, the event saw the participation of Ukrainian journalists who are part of the “Residency in Kosovo” program.

In his address, German Ambassador to Kosovo Jorn Rohde highlighted the significance of supporting Ukraine and underscored the importance of solidarity with the nation. He emphasized that standing with Ukraine is essential for defending European democratic values.

The remarks of Kosovo’s Prime Minister, Albin Kurti, resonated strongly with Rohde. Kurti had described Russia’s aggression against Ukraine as unprovoked and deserving of condemnation. Rohde found it particularly unsettling that a country as vast as Russia, rather than expanding through peaceful means, seeks to extend its territory by conquering neighboring states. He stressed that the conflict is not just a regional issue but a battle for European values, necessitating comprehensive support for Ukraine and its people.

This event marked Iryna Synelnyk’s an Ukranian journalist first opportunity to speak at such a high-profile gathering. She reflected on the substantial cost of defending not only Ukraine but also ensuring peace and stability in neighboring countries. Synelnyk also addressed the recent nighttime attacks and noted Russia’s ongoing refusal to recognize Ukraine’s independence. Despite these challenges, she expressed confidence in Ukraine’s resilience and anticipated a shared victory with the nations that stand by Ukraine.

This was her post on facebook:

“It was the first time I had the honor to speak at an event of this level. I Spoke for the high price we pay, protecting not only ourselves, but also peace and tranquility in neighboring countries. I mentioned also the tonight’s night attack. I spoke about the fact that Russia has never recognized our independence, but in spite of all, we shall prevail! I believe that, and the day of victory will be shared with the friends who support us.
