Milan Knežević, leader of the opposition People’s Democratic Party in Montenegro, has caused strong reactions with his recent posts on social media. In a message published on Facebook and X, he congratulated the Serbian List, expressing support for the Serbs of Kosovo, who, according to him, are going through a “Golgotha” in the contested territories of Kosovo and what he refers to as “Metohija.” Knežević wished for a successful election result for the Serbian List, an organization directly supported by Belgrade and involved in terrorist activities in Kosovo, specifically the terrorist attack in Banjska.
In his post, he used heavily nationalist and religiously charged language, emphasizing that “Serbs deserve resurrection” and thanked “his people” for preserving the “light of history, spirit, and future” in this “sacred land.” These comments have raised further concerns about the potential to stir tensions in an already sensitive region concerning ethnic and territorial issues.

Knežević’s messages are interpreted as glorification of terrorist groups and raise important questions about the responsibility of political leaders for the stability of the Balkans. Above all, these posts encourage an ultra-nationalist atmosphere that could worsen tensions between Kosovo and Serbia, allowing the already tense situation to escalate.
In a period where peace and coexistence are vital for regional stability, actions that support radical viewpoints and glorify violence could have serious consequences for the future of the Balkans. The engagement of such politicians, who use rhetoric that incites conflict, serves as a reminder that security and coexistence challenges in the region remain present, and that the radical Serbian sentiment, wherever it may be, is growing stronger.
