Serbia continues to shelter and protect Milan Radoičić, despite the serious crimes he is suspected of, from those during the Kosovo war in 1998–1999 to the terrorist attack in Banjska in September 2023.

This was stated today by security expert Drizan Shala, who told Klan Kosova that Serbia, under the leadership of Aleksandar Vučić, has turned the country into a safe haven for war criminals.

“The institutions of the Republic of Kosovo have done and continue to do their work to identify and prosecute the perpetrators of war crimes. Radoičić already has an indictment filed against him and an international arrest warrant,” said Shala.

However, the challenge remains significant, as according to him, Serbia refuses to extradite Radoičić.

“Milan Radoičić is sheltered in Serbia, and this clearly shows that Belgrade is not only a shelter for war criminals but also their partner. His open coexistence with President Vučić proves that Serbia, as it did in 1998-1999, continues to work against Kosovo’s constitutional order by supporting various criminal groups,” he emphasized.

Shala added that Radoičić is actively protected by Serbia’s Military Security Agency (VBA), making his extradition to Kosovo’s judiciary even more difficult. For this reason, he urged Kosovo to intensify diplomatic pressure on the international community to make his extradition possible.

However, the expert assessed that after the events in Banjska, the situation has significantly changed.

“Today, after the terrorist attack where Radoičić was the main protagonist, he has lost the support he once had from the Serbian community in Kosovo,” concluded Shala, implying that time is no longer working in his favor, nor in Belgrade’s.
