Radovan Višković, Prime Minister of the Republika Srpska entity in Bosnia and Herzegovina, resigned from his position on Monday, August 18, 2025.
Višković is a member of the Alliance of Independent Social Democrats, led by Milorad Dodik.
He had headed the Republika Srpska government since 2018, with the opposition frequently criticizing his management of the entity’s resources and his approach toward the institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Since July 2023, Višković has been on the U.S. sanctions list due to threats against the Dayton Peace Agreement and violations of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s sovereignty.
At that time, the U.S. Treasury Department noted that Višković was among the RS leaders responsible for “promoting the adoption of laws in the National Assembly of Republika Srpska that render the decisions of the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina unenforceable in RS, thereby obstructing and endangering the implementation of the Dayton Agreement.”
The sanctions include entry bans to the U.S. and the freezing of assets under U.S. jurisdiction.
Višković is also under investigation by the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina for the criminal offense of attacking constitutional order.
The same charges are filed against Milorad Dodik, President of Republika Srpska, and Nenad Stevandić, Speaker of the RS Parliament.
