A beloved figure in world football has officially closed the chapter on his illustrious career. Brazilian right-back Rafinha has announced his retirement from professional football at the age of 39, bringing an end to over 20 years on the pitch.

Rafinha, best known for his long and successful spell at Bayern Munich, shared the news in an emotional social media post, marking the end of a journey that saw him lift an impressive 31 trophies, including the UEFA Champions League.

His professional journey began in Brazil, before he moved to Germany in 2005 to join Schalke 04. After a brief stint in Italy with Genoa, Rafinha made the defining move of his career in 2011 when he signed with Bayern Munich. He spent eight years with the Bavarian giants, becoming part of one of the most dominant teams in Europe during that era.

With Bayern, Rafinha won seven Bundesliga titles, four DFB-Pokal trophies, and the Champions League in 2013.

Following his time in Germany, Rafinha continued his career with Flamengo, Olympiacos, Grêmio, São Paulo, and finally Coritiba, where he concluded his playing days.

Though his appearances for the Brazil national team were limited—just four caps—Rafinha left a lasting impact on every club he represented.

His departure marks the end of an era for fans who admired his consistency, professionalism, and quiet leadership on and off the field.
