The President of the Kosovo Chamber of Commerce, Lulzim Rafuna, spoke about tomorrow’s protest, which is being organized due to the refusal to postpone the decision on energy market liberalization — a decision set to take effect in three days.
Rafuna said that they had given space for dialogue with state institutions, including the Energy Regulatory Office (ZRRE) and the caretaker government, requesting a transitional phase.
He stated that the same request for a transitional phase was made directly to the caretaker Prime Minister, Albin Kurti, whom they met today, but from whom they received little hope that the decision would be delayed.
“There are 143,000 workers employed in these 1,300 businesses. Tomorrow is just the first step, intended to draw attention to the fact that the business community is dissatisfied with the current situation. Our only request is for a transitional phase during which we can jointly manage and decide on the date or month when we enter the open market,” Rafuna said.
“If there is no response, there are demands from businesses to escalate or radicalize the protest. Businesses do not agree to be forced into the open market on June 1st. Preparations have not been made, and the market is not ready,” he added during an interview with Klan Kosova.
