During excavations in the municipality of Rahovec, human remains have been discovered that are suspected to belong to at least one person who went missing during the Kosovo War (1998–1999), according to police reports.

The investigation was carried out by the relevant police unit in coordination with the Institute of Forensic Medicine, and based on a court order. The remains have been collected from the site and sent for forensic examination, where they will undergo autopsy and DNA analysis to establish the identity of the individual(s).

The Government Commission for Missing Persons had announced on March 4 that human remains were found at the site known as “Përzhina” in Rahovec, which were also sent to the Institute for forensic analysis.

Authorities emphasize that the investigation will continue, while the exact number of individuals and their identities from these remains remain unknown.

This case represents one of the ongoing efforts to identify war victims and provide justice for the families of the missing.
