Another case of illegal drug production was uncovered today in northern Kosovo.
According to RKS News, on February 16, 2026, at around 11:30 a.m., the Unit of the Directorate for the Investigation of Drug Trafficking (DHTN) in North Mitrovica, following operational information from the field, conducted an operation on “Savina Stena” Street in the village of Soqanic, Municipality of Leposaviq.
Sources close to the investigation report that the suspect, Rakic Milunovic (36), was cultivating narcotic substances inside his home.
During the search, carried out in cooperation with the Regional Investigations Unit of North Mitrovica, the police discovered:
- 28 suspected cannabis seeds planted in a plastic box, placed in sponge material and watered
- Plant nutrient preparations
- Residues of narcotic substances
- 9 additional suspected cannabis seeds in another room
- A digital scale
Crime scene technicians were also present, documenting the scene photographically and seizing the material evidence.
The suspect was arrested and taken to the police station. The duty prosecutor of the Basic Prosecution in Mitrovica was notified and ordered that Milunovic be released after giving his statement, with the case continuing through regular legal procedures.
The case has been initiated under the criminal offense:
“Unauthorized production and processing of narcotics, psychotropic substances, analogues, or tools, equipment, or narcotic materials.”
Investigations by DHTN North Mitrovica are ongoing to determine whether the suspect acted alone or is part of a larger network.
