Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama spoke at the Forbes Global Properties event, highlighting the country’s real estate sector and potential future gains linked to EU membership.

Rama expressed optimism about Albania’s integration into the European Union:

“In 4–5 years, we will be part of the EU. History shows that new member states often experience a doubling in the value of real estate. Every Albanian family will own property whose value will increase in just a few years.”

He emphasized that Albania already has a high rate of homeownership—94% of households own their residences—and described this as a strong foundation for economic growth.

Addressing housing affordability and investment, Rama noted the importance of international capital:

“The question of how to address affordable housing is legitimate. I am honored to host prominent American investors at this event. They are typical American investors, like you see in films—driven, ambitious, and ready to invest. Their involvement will be important for the real estate market in Albania.”

The Prime Minister’s remarks underline both the expected benefits of EU membership for property owners and the government’s focus on attracting foreign investment to stimulate growth in the Albanian real estate market.
