Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama participated in the 9th Future Investment Initiative in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, a leading global forum for innovation, technology, and sustainable investment. The event brings together world leaders and entrepreneurs to discuss the future of the global economy.

Opening his remarks on the panel “Is Humanity Going in the Right Direction?”, Rama highlighted the role of imagination and innovation in shaping a better future:

“Imagination is fueled by innovation and the need to reach higher and achieve greater breakthroughs. It is also connected to beauty. Yesterday, I immediately felt a different energy in this country, just by seeing the green sculptures on both sides of the streets,” Rama said.

He stressed that Europe’s first plan should be peace, expressing concern over the continent’s focus on armament:

“It is fundamentally wrong that there is a daily rush to rearm, to think, speak, and work on weapons, while there is no peace plan to reflect on. A Europe without its own peace plan, which for years put itself on autopilot under the United States, only to rediscover the concept of ceasefire when things dramatically changed, remains fixated on armament. Being stuck in this position is concerning,” Rama noted.

He further criticized the normalization of nuclear threats in public discourse and warned of the dangers posed by repeated threats through social media and missile tests:

“Europe must take a humble shower, reflect, and renew itself without assuming that its moral legitimacy is guaranteed. That is what I can say. What Europe should or should not do is beyond me or Albania,” the Prime Minister concluded.
