Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama has hailed today’s joint summit between the Albanian and Italian governments in Rome as a “historic day” for Albania’s international relations.
Rama announced that 16 new cooperation agreements are expected to be signed during the meeting — a move he said would “further strengthen the strategic partnership” between the two neighboring countries.
“With pride for another historic day in Albania’s international relations the first joint meeting between our two governments taking place in Rome to pave the way for 16 new concrete cooperation agreements within the framework of our close strategic partnership with our precious Western neighbor, I wish everyone a good day,” Rama wrote.
The Italy–Albania Intergovernmental Summit is being held today at Villa Pamphili in Rome, beginning at 11:30 a.m., co-chaired by Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and Prime Minister Edi Rama.
This marks the first summit of its kind between the two governments, aiming to consolidate the strategic partnership between Rome and Tirana with a focus on defense, industry, and migration policy.
