The Mayor of Prishtina, Përparim Rama, who was just sworn in for his second term, reflected in his speech on the blockades and crises during his first term, noting that the greatest sufferers were the citizens themselves.

“We know that the previous mandate was not what the citizens deserved. There were politically calculated blockades, delays, and obstacles,” he said.

Rama expressed his sincere hope that “in this mandate, we reflect and do not force the people to listen to divisive discourses, and do not hold the city hostage to political calculations.”

The Mayor of Prishtina called for working together and maintaining sincere criticism.

“Each of us was elected to serve the citizens, not political parties. Therefore, it is our duty to unite and work together, to avoid projecting artificial crises, to refrain from creating blockades that tire the city, and to work responsibly for our future. We are here in service of the citizens — challenge us, criticize us, demand more from us. Honest criticism is the engine of development; it sharpens leadership. We will always welcome it.”
