Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama announced today that feedback from his field meetings across all four corners of the capital clearly indicated that the number one demand from the community was the liberation of public spaces.

Responding to Citizen Concerns

Rama addressed questions and comments directly from citizens on social media platforms, focusing on the ongoing initiative to reclaim public areas. He recalled that this election marked his first time being part of the Tirana team, which led to a series of extensive meetings in the capital, as reported by ATSH and conveyed by KosovaPress.

“Practically, I was able to see and visit many areas of Tirana that I hadn’t seen in a long time, as my work hadn’t taken me there. I noticed two things that impressed me greatly: the positive transformation that Tirana has undergone even in very peripheral areas, which in the past were far from the simplest immunization parameters, but also negative aspects in terms of expansion,” Rama added.

Addressing “Expansion” and Renewed Commitment

According to Rama, there has been an “expansion of the operational boundaries of service units into public spaces.” “I heard this repeatedly from the citizens of Tirana; this was the basis of a concern. After that, we didn’t rest; on the contrary, a few days after the elections concluded with an extraordinary result, an absolute record but one that comes with a huge responsibility, we discussed the necessity of returning to the field and seeing what concerns the community has, those we might have heard little about or might not have identified,” Rama elaborated.

Prime Minister Rama further stated that Socialist Party (PS) deputies have been continuously present in Tirana, Vlora, Durrës, and several other major cities to reconnect with the community. “This is especially true given the unusual situation in Tirana. The capital has practically lacked direct leadership for quite some time now – that’s another story for another day. Therefore, we have completely reorganized ourselves, placing deputies in an even more demanding position regarding staying close and identifying problems in the field,” Rama concluded.
