Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama met with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte during the NATO Summit in The Hague, focusing on strategic initiatives, Western Balkans security, and NATO’s involvement in Albania’s defense infrastructure.
In a social media post, Rama stated that discussions centered around the strategic commitments of the Summit, the security situation in the Western Balkans, and the major investment in the new Port of Durrës.
According to Rama, NATO will take part in the military terminal of the Durrës Port project, marking a significant step in strengthening Albania’s defense capabilities and NATO’s southern flank.
The two leaders also discussed preparations for the NATO Summit in Tirana, scheduled for 2027, which Rama described as a historic event for Albania.
