Former U.S. Deputy Secretary of State, James Rubin, spoke in an interview with the Atlantic Council about the ongoing trial in The Hague against Hashim Thaçi and other leaders of the Kosovo Liberation Army (UÇK).
Rubin expressed his hope that the Hague does not issue a guilty verdict against Thaçi and the others, warning that such a decision would be disastrous for Kosovo and would have long-term consequences for international justice.
Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama shared Rubin’s statement publicly, posting a video on social media with the caption: “Freedom has a name.”
Rubin stressed that convicting the UÇK leaders without solid evidence would be a stain on the international legal system and could undermine confidence in future international tribunals.
