Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama has stated that Albania is ready to contribute to strengthening the European Union, stressing that the country’s membership is a strategic necessity.
In an interview with The Observer, published on Thursday, Rama said Albania has been forced to “swallow many frogs” throughout the EU integration process, but emphasized that the goal remains clear: EU membership by 2030.
Rama criticized the bureaucracy of the EU, saying that Europe is out of balance and in need of reform. He argued that the continent needs “more Europe, not less Europe,” along with a clear and forward-looking strategy.
The Prime Minister went even further, stating that Albania is ready to give up its right of veto and even forgo having its own European Commissioner, as a guarantee of goodwill and commitment toward its European partners.
