During the inaugural meeting of the Peace Board in Washington, Edi Rama addressed Donald Trump, raising concerns about the ongoing trial of former leaders of the Kosovo Liberation Army at the Kosovo Specialist Chambers.

Rama emphasized that former Hashim Thaçi has been in detention for nearly six years, while noting that prosecutors in The Hague have requested 45-year prison sentences for each of the accused.

Addressing Trump directly, Rama called for action before the situation worsens.

“For God’s sake, Mr. President, let’s do something before, as you say, very bad things happen again,” Rama said.

He also added that some leaders of countries that sponsored the Special Court should feel ashamed, referring to the establishment and support of the court that is handling the case.
