Security analyst Burim Ramadani has called for the Iber Bridge to be opened through dialogue between Kosovo and NATO, rather than through discussions with Serbia.

He described the idea of discussing the bridge through dialogue with Serbia in Brussels as harmful. “Reviving the idea of including the opening of the Bridge in dialogue with Serbia in Brussels is both inappropriate and unacceptable. Serbia does not and should not have a VETO over the opening of the Iber Bridge,” Ramadani wrote in a Facebook post.

According to him, the dialogue on this issue in Brussels (EU) has already concluded.

“Kosovo and the EU have fulfilled the obligations arising from the Agreement. Bringing the Bridge back into dialogue is a Veto for Serbia,” he wrote.

“Meanwhile, for the opening of the Iber Bridge, more work with NATO is needed and fewer words in the media! The bridge should be opened together with NATO and KFOR,” he added.

On Tuesday, the European Union announced plans for a meeting between Kosovo and Serbia to discuss the status of the bridge over the Ibar River.

“EU plans to include the status of the bridge in the agenda of the next Dialogue meeting,” said EU spokesperson Nabila Masrali.
