Serbian MP in the Kosovo Assembly, Nenad Rašić, stated that he does not see the possibility of being proposed as Deputy Speaker of the Assembly, following the latest ruling by the Constitutional Court regarding the appointment of a deputy speaker from the Serb non-majority community.
Speaking to FrontOnline, Rašić said that according to his reading of the Court’s decision, the exclusive right to propose a candidate for the position now belongs to the Srpska Lista, which holds the majority of seats representing the Serb community in the Assembly.
“With this ruling, the Constitutional Court has given the exclusive right to the Srpska Lista, which in this case has the most deputies. As I understand it, the decision conditions or rather grants this right to the Srpska List,” Rašić said.
He further clarified that, based on this interpretation, he does not see himself as a potential candidate for the role under the current circumstances.
“At this moment, I don’t see any possibility for my candidacy. Based on this decision — unless I’ve misread it — the right to nominate belongs only to the Srpska Lista. So, if I’ve understood correctly, I cannot be a candidate,” Rašić added.
