The Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs of Albania, Elisa Spiropali, shared a message on social media ahead of the Brdo-Brijuni Summit, which will be held tomorrow in the coastal city of Durrës.

She emphasized that this summit comes at a significant moment for both Albania and the Western Balkans, as the region now holds a powerful tool for growth and closer integration with the European Union — the New Growth Plan.

“We welcome the heads of state of the Brdo-Brijuni Process to Durrës at an important moment for Albania and our region. The New Growth Plan is the financial instrument that accelerates economic and social convergence with the EU,” Spiropali wrote.

The upcoming Brdo-Brijuni Initiative Summit will gather in Albania the top leaders of the Western Balkan countries and representatives of the European Union. This high-level forum aims to strengthen regional cooperation and advance the European integration process across the region.

Founded in 2013 by Slovenia and Croatia, the Brdo-Brijuni Initiative has served as a stable platform for political dialogue among regional countries, helping to build mutual trust, consolidate stability, and support reforms required for EU membership.

The Durrës meeting will focus on the European perspective of the Western Balkan countries, at a time when EU enlargement dynamics have regained momentum following recent geopolitical developments in Europe.

Special attention will also be given to the EU’s New Growth Plan, designed to more deeply integrate the Western Balkans into the European single market through reforms, investments, and economic cooperation.

The summit is expected to be attended by presidents and high-level representatives from Albania, Slovenia, Croatia, Kosovo, North Macedonia, Serbia, Montenegro, and Bosnia and Herzegovina, conveying a shared message of peace, cooperation, and a united European future for the region.
