A nationwide protest will take place today in Tirana in support of the former leaders of the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA), who are currently being tried in The Hague for alleged war crimes and crimes against humanity.

The protest, set to begin at 5:00 PM in Skënderbej Square, will be attended by prominent representatives from religious communities, including Haxhi Dede Edmond Brahimaj (Baba Mondi), the World Bektashi Leader, and Bilal Teqja, the Mufti of Tirana.

As we know, this Friday’s protest stands against the punishment of those who fought for peace and freedom. We, the Bektashi community, fully support them until justice prevails,” said Baba Mondi.

Similarly, Mufti Bilal Teqja confirmed his participation in the demonstration, emphasizing his solidarity with those who fought for Kosovo’s freedom.

We support all who fought for a free Kosovo, especially the members of the KLA. I urge all Muslims to join the protest on October 17. I will be there myself,” he declared.

Meanwhile, the Organization of Veterans of the Kosovo Liberation Army (OVL-UÇK) announced that Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama is also expected to attend the protest.

The Special Court in The Hague continues its main trial against former President Hashim Thaçi, Kadri Veseli, Jakup Krasniqi, and Rexhep Selimi, all accused of war crimes and crimes against humanity, charges they have firmly denied.
