The British Ambassador to Kosovo, Jonathan Hargreaves, welcomed the historic signing of the Joint Statement on Gender-Based Violence and Human Dignity by five religious leaders in Kosovo, as part of the “16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence” campaign.

“Together, Kosovo’s allies against gender-based violence are building a society where dignity is protected, equality is guaranteed, and violence has no place. This campaign is not just about raising awareness—it is a reaffirmation of a global and shared commitment to human dignity, equality, and justice,” Ambassador Hargreaves said.

Key Messages

The ambassador emphasized that gender-based violence is a serious obstacle to peace and prosperity. He also highlighted the importance of addressing online violence, stating that violence on the internet is real violence.

“Gender-based violence is a violation of human rights and a barrier to peace and prosperity. We underline that violence online is real violence,” Hargreaves added.

The statement and campaign aim to strengthen Kosovo’s commitment to equality, justice, and the protection of human dignity, reflecting a unified approach across religious and social institutions.
